With a break in the scheduled league fixtures, a hastily arranged away friendly with Halstead was fitted in. Having never played against the hosts before and not knowing what to expect, the Haverhill side had a strong first half performance and looked at one point midway through the half like scoring a hatful, but the Halstead goal led a charmed life, with only Rovers Billy Bush and Will Bailey scoring to put the Rovers two nil up at the break.
The match resumed with Halstead getting straight back into the game netting a quick goal from the restart, but Rovers restored the two goal advantage with Billy Bush picking up his second goal. Like the Rovers dominance of the first half, Halstead then had a purple patch of possession and attacking play that Rovers lads struggled to contain, with Halstead bagging two goals to bring the sides level at the final whistle.
